[DIECAST] Minichamps Review: Force India VJM01 (A.Sutil)

Hi guys.

Today I have started my written review blog and if you know anything about me you'll know why I have decided to choose this particular car as my first review.

It's a Force India. It's driven by Adrian Sutil and it's Force India's first F1 car.

It is the 1/43 scale Minichamps Diecast VJM01.

Some team history.

Force India are based in Silverstone and are the lastest guise which was formerly Jordan GP. Jordan started in 1991 and had their last season in 2005. Midland took over for th2 2006 season, then sold to Spyker for the 2007 season until Vijay Mallya (Team principal) bought the team and turned it into Force India. Adrian Sutil who had raced for Spyker and scored their only point in the season at a wet race in Fuji was retained and Giancarlo Fisichella who left Renault, joined the team.

Force India's first season.

Force India had a troubled start to the season, despite having an improvement in pace compared to Spyker. They suffered retirements in the first few races. In their first season they were using Ferrari power and were looking set to score maiden points in the Wet/Dry conditions of the Monaco Grand Prix. Adrian Sutil was running 5th place ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in his Ferrari. Coming out of the tunnel heading towards the chicane Raikkonen lost control and hit the back of Adrian Sutil's VJM01 which caused terminal damage to the rear wing. Unfortunately that was Force India's best chances of points for the 2008 season.
The team finished 10th in the constructors with 0 points.

The Model.

My thoughts.

I have always been a fan of Force India and now I own their first ever Formula 1 car. I have collected all the VJM's up to date. This is also a very unique car for Force India as it in Red and Gold and not the usual orange, white and green. It is also unique as 2008 was the final year before the massive rule changes and refueling ban so the car itself is shaped completely differently to all the other VJM's. With the rule change the cars got longer so this car is also displayed in a slightly smaller box, which, makes stacking the cars slightly difficult but luckily (for me) the VJM02 is also in the same size box.

If you're a Force India fan like myself and/or a fan of the 2008 F1 cars I would add this one to your collection.
